Seaford 9/11 Memorial Committee

In Memory of Timmy Haskell (FDNY), Tommy Haskell (FDNY), John Perry (NYPD), Robert Sliwak (Cantor Fitzgerald) & Michael Wittenstein (Cantor Fitzgerald).

The 9/11 SHS Committee has lived up to the commitment made by so many after the terrorist attack on our country “To Never Forget”. On November 22, 2002 the Seaford High School 9/11 Memorial was dedicated to our five alumni and all those who perished on September 11, 2001. With the overwhelming support of the Seaford community our committee has been the inspiration for numerous annual initiatives.

Seaford Historical Society

The Union Free School District in Seaford, a lively village of 500 residents in 1893, voted $3,500 that year for the construction of a school. This was Seaford’s third schoolhouse and was dedicated on Arbor Day in 1894. The building, originally constructed on Jackson and Waverly Avenues, served as a school until 1917, when the school board decided that the district had outgrown its present quarters.

On the opening of the Jackson Avenue school in 1921, the building was moved a block away and became the headquarters for the Seaford Fire Department. On July 4, 1976, in commemoration of the Nation’s Bicentennial, the structure, now located on Waverly Avenue between Jackson and Southward was dedicated as the Seaford Historical Museum.

The Museum houses much memorabilia of Seaford as a bay and farming town. Special loans from other museums and private collections will be displayed on a rotating basis. Contributions of a Financial or Historical nature are welcome.

Seaford Wellness Council

A non profit organization comprised of local citizens whose mission is to assist in the improvement of the Seaford community's quality of life by promoting general community wellness, including but not limited to the following:

1) Organizing activities that promote wellness such as activity nights for the community students to attend as an alternative to non-productive activities, as well as having Community Walk-Runs and Health Fairs.

2) Organizing, promoting and carrying out endeavors which beautify the community and environment, parks and other public places of gathering with the purpose of fostering healthy

interaction, socialization and fellowship within the Seaford community.

3) Creating activities and presentations which address issues of substances abuse, nutrition,

smoking, gender bias, violence and physical and mental health.
